So many uneducated people try and run down engineers, doctors etc. to make themselves feel smarter. They don't know the fuller picture as to why some decisions have to be made because they are lower down the decision tier. Sometimes we have to do things we don't want to because companies are running low on funds or laws require a certain solution, engineers aren't always perfect, and many solutions are compromises, but we have to make decisions that need to be made.

Im an engineer, and I'm very happy with the fights. But also, I am happy to listen to the guys on the ground, they have a million times more experience than I have.

One night shift i thought one of the engineers was going to fight a Forman at the beginning of the shift i just got the information I needed and moved on to another trench

So I have been the engineer in this situation. Background, I had a shit plan the carpenter had a shit attitude and was delaying the entire crews timetable. He said I could meet him in the parking lot. I told him I had been in the army for almost 6 years and would beat his ass to kingdom come. He said well your plan is f***** stupid and I was like yea dude I see that now hahahaha he was a good dude
